Guy Reed - The Mustache Challenge

Guy and his wife Beth are two of Wendy's dearest friends ... and I found out why last Summer when they visited from Upstate NY. We miss them always. But, all that gooshy stuff aside for now.

This particular mustache, wich is a common bi-product of the Winter-time beard, in that men who shave their beards when Spring approaches have a short window of opportunity to try out some fancy new facial hair whimsy before they get rid of it all. Guy smartly chose the handlebar mustache. Apparently there was a debate in his family between his daughters Isabel and Sadie along with Beth as to whether he should keep it or not. Beth sent Wendy a plea which read in part: "I need your back Wendy ... Guy wants to get rid of this awesome moustache (god I don't even know how to spell it). Vote yes on facial hair!"

So, Wendy and I have voted yes on facial hair for Guy. Please leave your comments along with a yes or no vote for facial hair. Thank you.

Doggie-Man, that just ain't fair.

I think Guy looks like he'd fit right in down here in the Lone Star state. All he needs is a cowboy hat & some boots. Grow out the hair & he'd have that whole Buffalo Bill thing goin' on.

Keep the 'stache, Dude.

Dallas is sort of like LA with a twang. I haven't been here too long yet but I can say that I like Fort Worth a lot better. Dallas is really hung-up on the whole glamour & flash, what do you drive, etc. Fort Worth is way more laid-back and down to earth.

That said, it's all been a strange adjustment for me.

Yeah, Crawford is holy ground to a lot of these folks.

And there are a surprising number of hockey fans.

But the lakes, oh how I miss the lakes back home. This state is as big as Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and both Dakotas and doesn't have a single natural lake. (OK, there's one on the Louisiana border that's the result of a natural log jam back in the 1800s. Personally, I don't think that counts.) It's hard to get my mind around it. The lakes here are all reservoirs and some are absolutely huge but it just isn't the same.

I still say keep the handlebar.

Actually, I rose two hours ago. Sugar Q Super dog has me paranoid about dry-socket, so I've just been lightly swishing with salt-water for the past couple hours (and enjoying your Texas conversation). Looks like kind of a nice day here, though ... may have to go out and sun my sockets!

Swishing the saltwater is a good idea. Dry sockets are a bad thing.

Enjoy the nice weather.

I'm off to a gig. I'll check back later for your thoughts on Fearless Leader's fireside chat.

I have been beating Guy E. Reed in every competion known to two childhood friends since we were seven years old. He is more a brother to me than my flesh and blood are. Guy is a very handsome man and handsome men do not need to hide behind facial hair growth. Therefore, (..sorry Beth..), I vote NO FACIAL HAIR!! Let the handsome face of Guy Reed SHINE ON!

They tend to do that as you get closer to the bottom of the bottle.

We've been drinking more wine since moving here. Beer and wine are easy to buy and reasonably priced. Liquor is another matter. Texas' excise tax on liquor is 40%, so that Tangueray I bought for $18-20 in MN costs $32-35 here. Plus, where we live and most of the other 'burbs around us are dry so it's a bit of a haul to find a liquor store.

Moustaches or not .... boots.... Dallas vs. Fort Worth..... hockey.... freshwater lakes vs. reservoirs ..... dry socket & saltwater ..... wine, wine and not to be outdone, barn funk meets a buxom aria in the vineyard. This whole thread had a nice smooth finish.
