Wendy's Pile

These may look like piles of gardening debris, but a psychologist might say that there is more revealed here than meets the eye.

Food for thought as you live on the edge of a still (somewhat) wild place. I found this quote in a Strib article about the demise of a bill in the MN legislature to protect wildlife habitat. The statement is as true today as it was 90 years ago.

"Defenders of the short-sighted men who in their greed and selfishness will, if permitted, rob our country of half its charm by their reckless extermination of all useful and beautiful wild things sometimes seek to champion them by saying 'the game belongs to the people.'

"So it does; and not merely to the people now alive, but to the unborn people. The 'greatest good for the greatest number' applies to the number within the womb of time, compared to which those now alive form but an insignificant fraction.

"Our duty to the whole, including the unborn generations, bids us restrain an unprincipled present-day minority from wasting the heritage of these unborn generations."

— Teddy Roosevelt circa 1916

Nice brush piles. I notice Scout's is larger than Navigator's. I guess women really do work harder than men...

Women do possibly work harder than men, however I must point out that even you, Alan Jackson, are correct in saying that Wendy's pile is larger than mine, but in the space it occupies only -- my pile is smaller yet contains more pile material due to the condensed nature of my piling method. So, if we were to judge the piles by their content, mine is bigger. And though I probably took a break soon after while Wendy continued working harder, I got an equal amount of work done because I caught up to her as she was using valuable break time to remove the hundreds of burrs she had in her hair and on her clothing due to the "harder" work she was doing. In the end, we came out equal, but I got a break. Is there a tortoise and hair metaphor in here somewhere? I'm so pompous ....

Ahh, another sensitive artist.

I am never ashamed to admit that my wife can accomplish by noon what I'd take 2 days to accomplish. She's a bang-up go-getter. It's a wonder to watch her. But I have my strengths. Like you, my work is neater.

You should get extra points for the beautiful and dense symetry.
