Futztuch Studio (Temporary Name)

Wendy and I both do the music thing, so why not have a little recording studio in the basement!? I did my first project this weekend with Tim O'Reagan from the Jayhawks. We mixed four of his songs and Wendy even got to do some unison Oooohs with Tim. I have to say that it is a pleasure to work at home -- walk outside the studio door and enjoy some fresh air and fine country sunshine. What a deal ... Tim and I worked all day Saturday, sat down in the porch for some dinner around 9:30pm (pork tenderloin that sweet Wendy grilled), worked again until 12:30am, and then - because we were having so much fun - the three of us sat on the porch talking about politics and music until 3am. (Tim said it was like a vacation, except that he doesn't have a day job, so ....). Good times. Finished up around 9:30 tonight and sent away a happy customer (Romeo wanted to go home with Uncle Tim, but it didn't work out).

THIS was the gem of the week. Congratulations, B, on whatever rush of adrenaline that made all this happen. Redstart will be recording our next CD here.... in the yard, the porch, the living room, the dining room. I wish we could take everything out to the prairie, though.... could that happen? B? With a generator? I know... I'm insane. But I don't know how to NOT ASK for crazy things.

Wow. The weather this weekend was probably the best it will be all summer. I got sunburned and my muscles ache from hauling mulch & rocks. I even managed to get Rocky and Romeo bathed. I'm way beyond happy.

Can't wait for all of you to be sitting & swilling in our yard in August. I'm starting to get.... really excited.... about all this.... meaning my new and improved and truly blissful life. How did this happen? Some distant planet has shined on me. I'm off to dreamland.

Well you ask me how I made it through
And how my mint condition could belong to you
When I'm on the ground I roll through town
I'm a president you don't remember getting kicked around

Nice digs, B. The lava lamp is an especially nice touch. I'll be looking for the credits on future CD purchases.

W, the prairie idea sounds really cool. Generators can be unstable power sources, though, so be careful.

My muscles are aching, too. Spent all day Saturday cutting & laying tile in the living room. It's nearly a wrap! Looks awesome—you'll have to come down and see it.

Wow ... that's actually really good. Futzd-Up or Futzd-Over or Futzdwith. But then again, the "word" futz is probably the problem. The other alternative would of course be "Bargain Times Studio". Ha.

Futz is OK. It indicates a certain fussiness with details. You could call it Bargain Basement Studio, but I think it gives the wrong conotation.
