Romeo and The Mushroom

Huh? What's this?

Just a huge, round fungus posing as comic relief while we stumble along dark and dappled forest trails. Damn! Mommy Nature has a weird sense of humor.

Leave it to Buggy to identify the mushroom and.... come to think of it.... with cold bark & a beer, it could make a tasty & nutritious meal. This one will go into the Bob Never Fales' Survival Manual.

Hold on...can we get verification on this mushroom's not killing people before any damage is done?

I take a big long bye every time I walk by one of those things ...

That is one large fungus next to Romeo. But it's not nearly as big as the fungus sitting in the oval office.

Hold all bets.
Let's see what happens with Rita.
This could be the big flush, and I ain't talkin' Texas Holdem.
Our guv'ment completely incapacitated, unable to deal, a massive anti-war protest this weekend as well....Texas completely shut down?
It's like a frickin' wreck, you can't stop watching.
Good luck everyone, don't forget where home base is. May see you there sooner than originally envisioned....

Rita could be very interesting, indeed. Bushco is already ramping up, hoping we'll all forget their dismal response to Katrina if they can do a better job this time around.

They're saying if it makes landfall as a CAT 5, it could still nail Dallas as a CAT 1 type tropical storm -- eeeek! Tie stuff down NSGLS!!!! Scary.

Yeah, that writer is a little over the top, but probably because people just aren't paying enough attention -- folks may really need gas to reach $5/gallon to notice that things are REALLY dire right now and looking not so good for the Winter. Yikes.

Well, if you're gonna freak over PeakOil, you should probably hunt down some naysayers who say that it's bunk. Not saying they are right, just saying some folks are doubting the FEAR. This could all just be a tool to convince us it's time to knuckle down and screw the rest of the world while we take control, perhaps thinning the herd along the way.
As to setting up camp out my way, consider North Korea, the giant earthquake they keep talking about that's on it's way, and a new volcano starting up in the Sisters area.
Yep, frickin' paradise out here...if you have no FEAR.

For sure there are naysayers; they mostly disagree about when PeakOil will happen. Anyway, it's inevitable, then add China, Russia, and the option to trade oil in euros, and we could be in for that kind of fall via the diminishing dollar regardless of PeakOil. All kinds of theories, I guess. None of them peachy.

I'm setting up camp wherever Bob sets up camp (who, by the way, just dropped off a whole truckload of wood for us ...).

Awesome, Dude!

I think we're in for a big blow & a ton of rain this weekend. Should be fun. I'm also supposed to fly up to Minneapolis again Monday morning (on Northwerst). Let's start the pool on how big my flight delay will be.

Be sure to check in ...

looks like it's turning North a little bit and losing a little intensity. Probably still be very destructive. Lots of oil rigs and refineries anywhere along that coast no matter where it makes landfall.

Yeah, gas prices have already jumped here. All the stations have lines & the one I filled up at this morning was out of regular unleaded.

So if our economy collapses, can I say "I told you so" to everyone I've been trying to convince for the past couple decades that the European model is more sustainable, not to mention more fair & balanced for the citizenry? I wonder if I can find a good refrigerator box to move into...

It doesn't hurt to have a plan.

Last night I was looking at the room in the basement wondering how many bunk-beds would fit. I was scoping out the yard for a garden plot. Then, I was researching high efficiency wood-burning boilers. And yes, we do have a 5,000 gal. water tower that only feeds our house. Hmmm. Then there's all of Buggy's resources. My folks down the road have 30 tillable acres that they rent.

Chickens, crops, and a forgery over at Mike and Patty Blue's.

Buggy -- all we need to do is figure out how to make decent beer, whiskey, and vodka. No problem.

Build a couple insulated cabins on the property.

Okay, I'll stop. Everything's going to be just fine! We're hoarding oil right now to hide the secret power source that our government has been developing for 50 years -- they just don't want to unleash it on the world until they're assured another monopoly. WE SHALL CONTINUE TO RULE THE WORLD!!!!

Good day!

Why do I feel like Tesla (not the band) fits in here somehow?
No, see, these dudes plan is to ruin the US, make everyone hate us, so, like, the UN finally has an excuse to come in here and "liberate" us from our own wicked government.
For some reason, a lot of folks think that last part would be worse than what we've got....
It's all Rockefeller's plan, man!
Just give me my soma already....

This pretty much sums it up. WOW. Now that was a rant worth reading. Thanks, Fatguy! Here's my favorite:

"You poor, hollow, blood-painted clowns. Cheering the trials and failures of your country with the same pennants and giant foam hands that you wave at your favorite sports teams."
