The Dude Finds the Dude's Shades!!!!

At Last, the search is over. Wendy found these and ordered them from a British vintage eyewear site. A nearly two year search is over, and the dude abides.

Sacred Heart

This past week, I got to work in Duluth, Mn with a band called "No Wait Wait" at Sacred Heart Recording Studio. The church was built in 1884, and in the photo you can see the original pipe organ in the background (we didn't have time to use it, though it's fully-functioning). The echo and ambience in the place was religious. The control room for the studio was located off to the side in what used to be the "Crying Room" - a room to take your crying baby to during a mass. Duluth is a very interesting town. Loved it. I'll go back some day.

The High Life (w/ cheese, olives, wine, and pears)

The Scout and I rented a $250 room (!!!!) at the Nicollet Island Inn for New Year's Eve (which had comfor-rest sleep number king-size bed, but no terry-cloth robes dammit) within walking distance of Kikugawa sushi restaurant, where we met Mark Dalton to discuss future entrepeneurial (I don't care if i spelled that wrong - I have not a bit of French in me) endeavors regarding fish. Then the three of us were able to walk from Japanese to Polish (Nye's Polanaise Room) to ring in the New Year (where Mark lost a leg-wrestling challenge to some woman stranger). Anyway .... it was the retreat we needed. Most fun New Year's ever, I think. And also a precursor to the honeymoon that we haven't taken yet ..... Mmmmmmmm.

Fatguy Gives Romeo the Business

That's Mark "Martha James" Dalton next to Romeo and Fatguy. Fatguy seems to be pulling one of those rabbit ear type jokes on Romeo --- good one. Christmas-times were fun (More current posting to follow).

Gilligan (I mean Fatguy) & the Skipper!

Gosh, Li'l Buddy ... this must have been around 1986 or 1987. Fatguy meets the Skipper at the Minneapolis airport. Why not?!?!!

(Figured I'd stay on the 80's television icons theme for a spell). Nice work, Fatguy!

The BARON & me

I wasn't the biggest fan of All-Star Wrestling as a kid. The concept of it all became quite a bit more entertaining for me later as I learned more about its colorful history. My favorite wrestler was definitely Baron von Raschke ("The Claw"). I received this autographed photo from the Scout for Christmas. I'd have to put it up there with one of the best gifts ever. The Reverend Boyce got one, too. Wish I would have had my camera out when he opened it - biggest smile I'd ever seen on his face - then, he wisely commented, "He signed my name with the same hand that administered the CLAW!!!"

Post Holiday Re-Cap

Sorry we've been so absent. We'll try to do better in 2006.

I'm here to prove we did indeed celebrate a lovely pagan version of the Jebus Bday. The Dude abided, after all, had some good and oft important things to say and died an historically significant death. I honor him and set him aside other luminaries, including Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Crazy Horse, Mother Theresa and .... yeah .... okay .... Rilke. I'm including fotos of more present-tense luminaries who are alive and appeared to be enjoying themselves at our table and hearth. We rocked the elk tenderloin with a plum sauce, roasted vegetables, pomegranate & greens, garlic mashed potatoes, ginger bread, apple pie, good wine and rousing conversation.
